Overview of Telemedicine Evaluation

Evaluation is an important step for implementing and sustaining a variety of applications in all fields, including telemedicine. This white paper provides an introductory overview of telemedicine evaluation and research. Many people use the terms evaluation and research interchangeably. This paper briefly discusses the more technical definitions and uses of these terms before turning to the importance of research and the results from previous telemedicine research that has been done. Building from the concepts of evaluation and research, this paper provides information on the major components associated with evaluation of telehealth programs. Lastly, evaluation services available through MATTeR are discussed.
