Developing a Strategic Plan

MATTeR

Strategic plans and business plans are often considered the same.  It helps to think of strategic plans at a high level - the overall organization or network.  Business plans tend to be more department or product oriented.  Both are valuable to telehealth programming.

Strategic plans are living documents.  They help you to discover and formalize:

     •   Why your organizatin exists (mission, vision, values)

     •   Where your organizatin is going in the next 1- 5 years (goals and objectives)

     •   How you will get there (activities and time lines)

     •   How you will know when you have reached your goals and objectives (evaluation)

Strategic plannins is best conducted in a setting that allow the collective variety of people to participate.  Include your visionaries and your skeptics - your right brains and your left brains.  A professional facilitator can assure the process is objective, stays on track and results in the final document.
